If you are thinking about having a Thornewood Castle wedding, Miranda and Christian’s September day is the perfect example of how magical this venue truly is. Their theme was dark academia, and it honestly could not have fit the castle better.
One thing I love about a Thornewood Castle wedding is how many options you have. You can choose to have your ceremony or reception inside or outside depending on the weather and the vibe you want. There is plenty of space for vendors to set up comfortably and parking for guests, which makes everything run smoothly. The castle also offers overnight stays, so the couple and even some guests can stay right there on the property. That alone makes the experience feel extra special. Miranda and Christian each had their own rooms to get ready in. Both spaces had beautiful natural light, lots of room for their bridal party, and their own bathrooms. As a photographer, natural light like that is such a gift. It made their getting ready photos feel soft and timeless.
Inside the castle, there are so many beautiful spots for photos. The small library is cozy and romantic. The hallway filled with antique mirrors adds so much character. The billiards room, the grand staircase, and the ballroom all give different looks without ever leaving the building. Outside, the front fountain lights up perfectly during golden hour. The courtyard has statues, flowers, and another fountain that gives such a European feel. And behind the castle, there is a view of the lake with access to the boardwalk, which is perfect for peaceful lakeside portraits.
Their vendor team helped bring everything together so beautifully. Beyond the Veil Events kept the day flowing smoothly. Cascadia Kitchen PDX created their cake, and Marsh and Mallow Co. provided a fun alternative dessert option. Dinner from The Pizza Maniac was such a hit with guests and made the evening feel relaxed and joyful. And all their audio needs for their ceremony, reception and music for the boppin' dancefloor was provided by J & J Entertainment.
From my perspective as a photographer, a Thornewood Castle wedding is full of creative opportunities. Everywhere I turned there was beautiful light, interesting textures, and meaningful backdrops. It is a venue that gives you space to explore and truly enjoy your day.
If you are looking for a wedding venue that feels unique, romantic, and full of character, I highly recommend checking out Thornewood Castle. And if you want a photographer and videographer team who already knows the best spots and how the light moves throughout the day, Dillon and I would absolutely love to connect with you. Your story deserves to be captured in a place this special.
